LPS GI Maintenance-Free Chemical Earthing Pipe – Technical Specification
The GI Maintenance-Free Chemical Earthing Pipe (LPS Type) is a high-performance grounding electrode designed to provide reliable and long-lasting earthing for electrical and lightning protection systems. This type of earthing electrode is widely used in industrial, commercial, and infrastructure projects where stable earth resistance and minimal maintenance are required.
The electrode shall be constructed using high-quality Galvanized Iron (GI) material. The standard size of the electrode shall be 80 mm outer diameter and 3000 mm length (3 meters), with a wall thickness ranging from 2.5 mm to 3.5 mm. The pipe shall be manufactured from mild steel and hot-dip galvanized to ensure superior corrosion resistance. The galvanization coating shall be in the range of 80 to 100 microns, providing protection against rust and ensuring a long service life even in aggressive soil conditions.
The construction of the earthing electrode shall be of pipe-in-pipe or strip-in-pipe design. It shall consist of an outer GI pipe and an inner GI pipe or GI strip, typically of size 25×3 mm or higher, which enhances electrical conductivity. The annular space between the pipes shall be filled with a highly conductive chemical compound such as a mixture of graphite, bentonite, or other crystalline conductive materials. This chemical filling plays a crucial role in reducing soil resistivity and maintaining moisture around the electrode.
The earthing electrode shall be capable of achieving an earth resistance value of 1 ohm or less, depending on soil conditions and proper installation. It shall be suitable for dissipating high fault currents, typically up to 25–50 kA for a short duration.
